Moldova’s acts have always been one of my favorites. Look up their 2010 entry – it spawned the Epic Sax Guy meme (and for good reason).

My hunch is that while the grandmas have an easy path to the final, they might not fare so well in the end. Would love to see some sort of mashup between them and Austria, though.

I want to move to Moldova just to be a groupie for that band. I’m also loving the Russian grandmas, though their act would be GREATLY improved by adding the leotarded dancers from Austria.

Re: Anri Jokhadze – I’ve always had a certain respect for performers who have not let a lack of talent prevent them from saying the things they want to say musically (cfr.Half Japanese), so I have to admit a certain soft spot for anyone who can be this bad with this much sincerity.

That said – yeah, the Sweden offering kicks more type of butt than I can even think about.

OTOH, Nina Badrić is kinda touching me in a way that cloying ballads generally don’.t She actually seems sincere about what she’s singing. OTOH, I don’t speak Croatian, which means I can’t tell if she’s spouting soap bubbles or not.

Boy, I am indecisive as hell, ain’t I? Good thing I’m not one of the judges.

I’ve made peace with the fact that whether I like their entry or not, Turkey will usually make it to the finals.

I’m still hoping Sweden takes it this year, although I thought Norway’s entry was totally going to sweep last year and it ended up not even getting through its semifinal. Crossing my fingers for either a San Marino or Montenegro nul points.

Have you seen the other posts? The only entries I haven’t covered yet are the Big Six.

Ah the diversity of human taste. The Turkey entry is easily my favorite, and that Estonian ballad makes me want to pluck my eyes out with a spoon rather than listen (not as much as the Lithuanian offering, but I suppose that’s at least appropriate for the song).

I agree with you on the others though, especially the Norwegian (and not JUST because of the pretty, though that definitely helps).
